What to expect from an embark dog walk

Holistic woodland group walks with pick-up and drop-off. Here you can learn more about the walks, how I work and what your dog can expect from an Embark walk. The below information should help to give you an idea of whether or not my walks are the right fit for your pup.

Daily walk slots

I run three group walk slots every weekday: approximately 9am, 11am and 2pm. Most regular clients book the same slot each week so their dog gets to know their walking pack. Ad-hoc walks are available subject to space, so just get in touch and I'll see what I can do.

small groups, big adventures

Each group is carefully selected and limited to ensure the best possible walk, and the safety of all dogs. That means matching temperaments thoughtfully, keeping numbers sensible, and making sure nobody gets overwhelmed. Your dog gets the benefits of socialisation without the chaos of a large pack.

my holistic approach

All dogs need more than just physical exercise. They also have emotional, mental and behavioural needs. Embark prioritises these factors in the way I walk, handle and care for your dog to ensure your dog is exercised, enriched and socialised. It's why I choose woodlands over pavements, small groups over crowds, and calm leadership over rushing.

requirements

To keep every dog safe on my walks, I ask that every dog meet the following criteria. This all discussed at my consultation too. Dogs must be:

  • At least a year old.
  • Neutered
  • Well socialised and comfortable around other dogs.
  • Have good enough recall to walk off lead.

Not sure if your dog is ready? That's what the free consultation is for. I'll meet you, meet your dog, and have an honest conversation about whether group walks are the right fit. I may recommend some training or activities you can do at home to get your dogs ready for the walks.

what an embark walk looks like

Every Embark walk follows the same thoughtful rhythm, whether it's your dog's first time with me or their hundredth. It starts at your door: I arrive in the Embark van, greet your dog, and help them settle in alongside their walking companions for the day.

I drive to one of my local woodland or forest locations, places where dogs can sniff, explore and run off lead in a safe, supervised group. Walks last a minimum of one hour, often longer depending on the group and the weather. There's time for play, scent work, calm moments and plenty of socialisation with other steady, friendly dogs.

When I'm done, I drop your dog home. They come back clean and worn out, muddy paws wiped, and usually ready for a long nap. You'll hear from me with updates about how the walk went. Exercise, enrichment and socialisation, all in one trip.
